NEW TREATMENT FOR BARRETT’S ESOPHAGUS
Dr. Mark Janich has introduced a radiofrequency
treatment for Barrett’s Esophagus, which is
designed to remove the Barrett’s epithelial lining with a
short, well tolerated endoscopic procedure. Though
new to Birmingham, over 17,000 patients have been
successfully treated worldwide for this precancerous
condition. A study published this month in
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy reports 98.4% of patients
had their Barrett’s eliminated with this technology
(BarrX HALO).
